Who looks after your data

Loveg is operated by Rodrigo Albornoz Figueiredo, who is responsible (the controller) for processing your personal data on loveg.me and in the mobile app, and also acts as data protection officer (DPO), reachable at privacidade@loveg.me.

Data we collect

We collect the data you give us and some data generated when you use the service:

  • Account: email, language, sign-in method (email link or Google), the date you accepted the Terms and your notification and email preferences;
  • Profile: name, date of birth, gender, the genders you are interested in, photos, bio, height, occupation, education, languages, intentions, children, habits (exercise, drinking and smoking), diet, religion, political views, Instagram and answers to profile questions;
  • Location: your device's position, used to calculate the distance between profiles;
  • Usage: likes, passed profiles, matches, blocks, reports and chat messages;
  • Subscription: plan status and Stripe identifiers. Card details are entered on Stripe's page and never reach our servers;
  • Technical data: browser and device type, error reports, the code used for mobile notifications and where your visit came from (campaign or referral);
  • Contact: whatever you send us through the contact form.

Sensitive data

Religion, political views and the genders you are interested in are sensitive data under Brazil's LGPD, because they reveal beliefs and aspects of your sex life. Religion and political views are optional and, if you fill them in, appear on your profile. The genders you are interested in are needed to suggest profiles. We process this data based on the consent you give when you fill it in, and only to build your profile and your suggestions. You can change or remove it at any time by editing your profile.

What we use your data for

Each use has a legal basis under the LGPD (article 7):

  • Creating and maintaining your account, showing profiles, calculating distances, suggesting people and enabling conversations: performance of our contract with you;
  • Processing the Premium subscription: performance of the contract. Keeping payment records: compliance with a legal obligation;
  • Moderating photos, reviewing reports and preventing fraud and abuse: legitimate interest in keeping the community safe;
  • Sending emails and notifications about your account: performance of the contract. News and promotional emails: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time;
  • Fixing errors, measuring audience and improving the product: legitimate interest, always with the minimum data needed;
  • Suggesting opening lines after a match: performance of the contract.

Automated decisions

Uploaded photos go through automated moderation services that look for nudity, violence and other prohibited content. When these services cannot reach a conclusion, the photo stays hidden from other people until our team reviews it. You can ask for a review of an automated decision at privacidade@loveg.me (article 20 of the LGPD). People suggestions are also made by algorithms, based on your filters, distance and activity in the app.

Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We only share what is necessary with companies that provide services to Loveg and process the data on our instructions:

  • Hosting, database and storage: Vercel, Railway, Supabase, Google Firebase, Upstash and Redis Cloud;
  • Payments: Stripe;
  • Sign-in and mobile notifications: Google (Firebase);
  • Sending emails: Resend, Mailtrap and Mailgun;
  • Photo moderation: Sightengine, PicPurify, Hive and Google Cloud Vision;
  • Suggested opening lines: OpenRouter and Groq, which receive only the interests of the two people in the match and the bio of the person receiving the message, with no name, age or contact details, and may not use this data to train models;
  • Error reports and audience measurement: Sentry and Vercel Web Analytics.

Other users see what is on your profile, such as your name, age, approved photos and bio, and your approximate distance, never your exact location or your date of birth. We may also provide data to authorities when the law or a court order requires it.

International transfer

Loveg's servers and those of several of the providers above are outside Brazil, mainly in the United States. This transfer is necessary to provide the service you signed up for (article 33 of the LGPD), and we choose providers with public data protection commitments.

Security

All traffic is encrypted. Chat messages are also encrypted in the database, photos are kept in private storage and only shown through temporary links, and team access is limited by role, with administrative actions logged. The admin panel gives no access to the content of conversations. No system is completely immune to failure: if an incident could put you at risk, we will notify you and the ANPD.

How long we keep data

We keep your data for as long as your account exists:

  • Deactivated account: your data is kept until you sign in again or delete the account;
  • Deleted account: we immediately erase your profile, photos, conversations (including for the other person), matches, likes, blocks, reports, answers and subscription;
  • Backups: deleted data may remain for up to 30 days in encrypted backups, until they are replaced;
  • Payments: Stripe keeps billing records for as long as tax law requires;
  • Contact: messages sent through the contact form are kept as a record of the support request. You can ask for their removal at the privacy email.

Your rights

Under the LGPD (article 18), you can:

  • Confirm whether we process your data and access it;
  • Correct incomplete, inaccurate or outdated data;
  • Ask for anonymisation, blocking or deletion of data that is unnecessary or processed unlawfully;
  • Ask for your data to be ported;
  • Find out who we share your data with;
  • Withdraw consent at any time and learn what happens if you do not consent;
  • Ask for a review of automated decisions;
  • Complain to Brazil's National Data Protection Authority (ANPD).

You can do a lot yourself in the app: edit your profile, change notifications and delete your account. For anything else, write to privacidade@loveg.me. We reply within 15 days.

Cookies

We use few cookies, and almost all of them are needed to keep you signed in. The full list, with the purpose of each one, is in the Cookie Policy.

Ads

On the free plan, Loveg shows ads from partner brands, always marked “Sponsored”, on the website and in the app. They are chosen on our own servers using only your account's language and the approximate region of your profile's location; for visitors who are not signed in, only the page's language. None of your data is sent to advertisers: they receive only the total number of views and clicks, never who saw or clicked. We use no third-party ad networks, no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking. Premium subscribers see no ads. If we ever start using third-party ad networks, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent.

Minors

Loveg is only for people aged 18 or over. If we identify an account belonging to a minor, it will be deleted along with its data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When a change is significant, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. The date of the last update is always shown at the top of this page.
